Principal's Message
Dear Students, Faculty, and Members of the College Community,
It gives me immense pride and joy to welcome you all to another promising academic year at Shyama Prasad Mukherji College for Women—an institution that has been nurturing excellence, integrity, and empowerment in young women since its inception in 1969.
At SPM, we believe that education is not merely about acquiring knowledge, but about developing the wisdom to apply it for the greater good. As Swami Vivekananda beautifully said, “Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man.” This belief guides our constant endeavour to help every student realize her inner potential and grow into a confident, compassionate, and responsible citizen.
In keeping with the vision of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherji, our college continues to uphold the ideals of nation-building through education, self-reliance, and character formation. His inspiring life reminds us that true learning blends intellectual pursuit with moral strength and social commitment.
Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, we are moving towards a holistic and multidisciplinary framework that promotes flexibility, creativity, and experiential learning. The NEP encourages our students to design their own academic pathways—fostering innovation, skill development, and adaptability in a rapidly changing world.
Dear students, I urge you to make the most of every opportunity this institution offers—be it academic excellence, research, cultural and social initiatives, or community engagement. The true measure of education lies not only in academic success but also in the development of character, resilience, and empathy.
Let us together strive to create an environment where curiosity thrives, ideas flourish, and every young woman discovers her unique voice and purpose. With a dedicated faculty, supportive staff, and an inspiring student community, I am confident that Shyama Prasad Mukherji College will continue to shine as a beacon of empowerment and progress.
With best wishes for a meaningful and transformative year ahead.
Prof. Neelam Goel
(Acting Principal, Shyama Prasad Mukherji College)
